Vanbreda Risk & Benefits wins label of ‘Best Managed Company’ for the sixth year running

Deloitte has again proclaimed Vanbreda Risk & Benefits as a Best Managed Company for the sixth year in a row. “The renewal of the Gold label is a great moment for us. We are being commended for the efforts we have made in the past year to achieve sustainable growth and strengthen our social engagement. We also received valuable insights to do even better in certain respects. This keeps us on our toes as a company, and helps to shape our ambitions for the coming years,” says CEO Pedro Matthynssens.

Deloitte Private, Econopolis and KU Leuven began in 2018 to look each year for the ‘Best Managed Companies’ among the unlisted Belgian businesses. The professional jury applauds the drive and tenacity with which this year’s winners deliver financial growth and consolidate their market position.

Diversity, inclusion and sustainability high on the agenda

The Best Managed Companies programme reviews the contenders each year rigorously against a tried-and-tested overall framework: a clear long-term strategy, extensive capabilities, a strong commitment and solid financial results.

Pedro Matthynssens: “The jury of experts underscores our exceptional financial performance in 2022. Our clear and renewed business strategy up to 2030 was appreciated as well, as was the roll-out of a new talent and remuneration policy with which we will attract and retain talent throughout the organisation in the coming years. We will also continue to focus on integrating and enshrining diversity, inclusion and sustainability in our strategy. This is where major opportunities lie today for our society and our organisation. As the largest Belgian insurance broker we continue, where appropriate, to invest in digitalisation and technological innovation to fulfil our pioneering role.”

Platinum label in sight

For the sixth time in a row, Vanbreda Risk & Benefits can pride itself on the Best Managed Company label. Pedro Matthynssens: “This is once more a great recognition for us as a company, to which all our staff and the management team have made their contribution. The professional context and the challenging trajectory give us the extra incentive to get down to work with the jury’s points of action. And of course we already look forward to next year. The Platinum label, the highest recognition that we can obtain after seven years, is now really coming in sight.”

Vanbreda Port Barometer: cost of workplace accidents falls by 30%

Press
03.02.2026

Port work has its risks, despite the wide-ranging preventive efforts of port operators. Despite a 60% increase in the insured wage bill, resulting in significantly greater exposure to risks, the number of workplace accidents in container, general cargo and roll-on/roll-off activities has remained relatively constant. As a result, the cost has actually fallen by 30%. However, commuting accidents are proving costly for port operators. The number is increasing rapidly, and the average cost is three times higher than for an accident at the quayside. This is one of the subjects covered by the Vanbreda Risk & Benefits Port Barometer, a comprehensive analysis of work-related accidents in the port from 2020 to 2024.

Vanbreda Cyber Study: cost of 4 out of 5 cyber incidents limited to 20,000 euros thanks to cyber insurance

Press
02.02.2026

Cyber crime continued to rise in 2025 and poses a growing threat to Belgian businesses. However, companies’ efforts in cyber security and insurance are paying off. Targeted prevention measures and improved incident support have limited the cost of four out of five cyber claims 20,000 euros, and cyber insurance premiums have fallen. New players with competitive rates are reinforcing this trend. At the same time, the risk of reliance on a single provider is still underestimated, and businesses that fail to adapt their insured amounts to their growth and current risks are in danger of being underinsured. This is clear from the Vanbreda Risk & Benefits annual cyber study.
