‘Without insurance, it would have been very difficult to keep our business afloat’

‘During the night of 18 September 2011, we were the victims of a break-in. Our daughter lives above the shop and was awakened by a loud noise. All she could do was look on helplessly. Once you get into the shop and see the wrecked window displays, it’s easy to get really downhearted. And then come all the questions: what now?

We got in touch with our contact at Vanbreda straight away, who then came to the shop the same day to tell us what we needed to do. Fortunately, our insurance cover meant that we could count on a night watchman, which made the first few nights more bearable for our family. With all our white gold stolen and December just around the corner, we were very satisfied with how smoothly the compensation went.

Without insurance, it would have been very difficult, if not impossible, to keep the business afloat – a business that has been around since 1893.’
